About this Site

As the president and founder of LiveHive Interactive, it is my responsibility to help define our corporate culture. I recognized early on that LiveHive, while primarily a company devoted to competitive video game tournaments and events, has an opportunity to spearhead some much needed change in the area of education, specifically mathematics education here in the United States. Our current educational initiative employs a strategy that will not seem new to those seeped in social entrepreneurism, either in practice, or from an academic standpoint, but I believe the community at large will benefit from this dialogue. This site is here to provide a point of connection for those in the community interested in LiveHive’s educational initiative.

Why title your site Absolute Truth? Isn’t that a little arrogant?

I could see how you could think that…but let me explain.

The absolute value of an integer is the numerical value without regard to whether the sign is negative or positive. On a number line it is the distance between the number and zero. In other words the absolute value of every negative integer, as well as every positive integer, is positive, regardless of whether or not the number is positive, or even negative.

Similarly, the absolute value of the plan I am implementing is positive without regard to whether it is viewed positively or even negatively by the community, especially in regard to the tools I use to implement said plan.

I am not trying to imply that I am above error, or that the plan will not receive course corrections over time. I just recognize that what I am trying to do is somewhat unconventional, and that the tendency for people to fear, and therefore attack, that which they do not understand is something that I need to be prepared for.

The fact is that what we are currently doing with our young people, specifically in regards to education, is not working…neither for us, nor for them.

I intend on changing that. That’s the truth.
